CCFPA member, former Sky Blue forward Julian Joachim is celebrating a big birthday today. Peterborough born on 20th September 1974, Julian is 50 today.

Julian will be remembered as a zippy winger who, after making well over 100 appearances over four years from 1992 for Leicester City and then making a big impact at Aston Villa from February 1996 (174 appearances- 45 goals), came to the Sky Blues in the summer of 2001 from the Villa in a big value exchange for Moustapha Hadji.  Julian had a creditable scoring record with us (fourteen goals in 61 first team appearances).

However, three years later, in July 2004 Julian was transferred to Leeds United and had further experience with Walsall (on loan) and Boston United before finishing his Football League career at Darlington from 2006 where he made over 80 appearances.

He moved down a gear with newly promoted Conference North side Kings Lynn from 2008 but budget cuts led to his release the following year and short term attachments to the likes of Thurmaston Town (2009), Quorn (2009), Holbeach United (2010), Boston United (2011), Holbeach again (2013), Shepshed Dynamo (2014), Newark Town (2016), Radcliffe Olympic (2017) and Aslockton & Orston (2018) at age 43!!

JJ was last reported as joining Bourne Town in October 2018 after previously signing for the Gibraltar national league side Europa Point as a player and advisor, as part of that club’s collaboration with Player Trader.

Julian gained junior England Caps from U18-U21 levels between 1993-95. He published his autobiography in 2021 (right).

Sadly we haven’t yet been able to attract Julian back to Coventry for a CCFPA event and we are aware he has, on occasion, turned out for the M69 rivals’ Leicester City Legends XI.

Perhaps we can persuade him to change sides at some future date!! Nevertheless we hope you have a great birthday today Julian!
