An enjoyable evning was had by all at the L&W CCFC SC

Oggy, Lloyd, Dave & Benno with F.A.Cup

Sky Blue fans who turned up at the Nelson Club in Warwick last Thursday night (3rd October) were treated to the presence of four of the five members of the ‘Boys of 87’ quintet originally slated to appear with CCFPA’s new chairman Billy Bell at Leamington & Warwick CCFC Supporters Club ‘Evening With The F.A.Cup Winners’.

Sadly midfield dynamo of CCFC’s 1987 Wembley win against Spurs, Micky Gynn,  could not make it on the night but the remaining quartet of Dave Bennett, Steve Ogrizovic, Lloyd McGrath, and David Phillips, all fans favourites, made it an evening to remember!

Thanks to Billy for providing photos of the occassion compered by Billy and the following brief report:-

David, Lloyd & Oggy having a great time

“Cracking night with the ‘Boys of 87’. Llloyd, David, ‘Benno’ and ‘Oggy’ at the Nelson Club, Warwick. Thanks to all at the Leamingon and Warwick Supporters Club for your warm welcome!”

‘Benno’ is a long time Association committee member, ‘Oggy’ still attends pretty well all Sky Blues games as a match-day commentator for BBC CWR, David has been a star of the Association’s Golf Day in recent years and Lloyd is popular host at the Hawks Mill Sports and Social Club locally.

David tells Billy all about it!

Billy & Steve Ogrizovic

The ‘Boys of 87’ (not just these four) get together as often as they can and though deeply missed managerial duo John Sillett and George Curtis are now, sadly, fixtures in the’ great Soccer Stadium in the Sky’ we are sure it will not be too long before many of them will be back again!

Almost all the ‘Boys of 87’ are now members of this Association!

It was a wonderful reunion at Warwick! All Sky Blue fans greatly look forward to the next time!
