Trevor in the Sky Blue 1967

Born in Sutton in Ashfield on Christmas Day 1946, birthday greetings are in order this Xmas for former sixties Sky Blue winger Trevor Shepherd who is celebrating his 71st birthday today!!

Like the late Peter Denton (a CCFPA member who sadly passed away last year) Trevor was another winger signed towards the end of Jimmy Hill‘s managerial role with City. He was a youth/reserve player with Nottingham Forest before switching to City in October 1966.Forest had discovered him working and playing for East Kirby Miners Welfare FC and signed him 1963. Trevor made his Sky Blue debut in Division 1 at inside right in a 2-2 draw at Highfield Road.

The forceful and direct outside man went on to make 16 League and Cup appearances for the Sky Blues scoring 2 goals before being snapped up by Plymouth Argyle in June 1969. Trevor also played in a loan spell for Torquay United whilst with the City (March 1968) and for Nuneaton Borough later in his career (1970-71).

Trevor has not returned to the Ricoh as our guest for a number of years so it would be really great to see him back again in 2018 for Legends day, perhaps. We hope he has a great day today!
