Ian Wallace in the Sky Blue

We are sure all Sky Blues fans in the sell-out crowd next Saturday for the Sky Blues vital Championship clash against neighbours (and former fairly recent friendly landlords) Birmingham City will give ‘Wally’ another wonderful welcome!

Always a frequent visitor to CCFPA/CCFC reunions over the years Ian will be hoping the current Sky Blue strikers will continue to be as adept at hitting the Brum net on Saturday as ‘Wally’ was in his heyday! All the Sky Blue family will be willing Mark Robins’ men to grab another three points in their quest to cement a play-off spot with just the last fixture at Middlesbrough to play!

Ian Wallace at LD23 (MY)

Ian enjoyed his Legends Day 2023 visit just a few weeks back so much he will be coming back down from Scotland for some more fun and games as our ‘special’ on Saturday!  Signed from Dumbarton in 1976 for £40k ‘Wally’ had four prolific Sky Blue seasons netting 59 goals in his 140 CCFC games, also getting 3 Scotland caps. Moving to Nottingham Forest for £1.25m in July 1980 he went onto play for French club Brest (1984), Sunderland (1985) and Portuguese outfit Maritimo (1986) before finishing his career in the late 1980s with Australian side Croatia.

Watch out for Ian ‘around the lounges pre-match verbally sparring with ex colleague and club host Brian ‘Harry’ Roberts. After the game CCFPA’s Billy Bell will take him once more on stage at Lady Gs for some more craic and (no doubt) a ‘Sky Blue Song’ finale!

Oggy in the Press Box

As usual we expect CCFPA member and CCFC goalkeeping legend Steve Ogrizovic will be in the CBS Arena Press Box with the rest of the BBC CWR live match-day commentary team so you can tune into their reporting if you weren’t quck enough to grab a ticket.  If you buy a copy of CCFC’s excellent matchday programme you will also see the regular contributions in it from CCFPA committee members Jim Brown and Mike Young.

If this Sky Blue result and the one a week later at Middlesbrough turn out for the best (as well as beneficial outcomes on other Championship grounds) we might not be seeing the Sky Blues last home game of the season on Saturday! Fingers crossed and PUSB!!
