Blair Adams

We celebrate a second Sky Blue ‘Birthday Boy’ today. CCFPA member and former Coventry City defender Blair Adams is 33 today and the Association would like to wish him ‘Many Happy Returns’!

Born in South Shields on 8th September 1991 Blair was last registered with his home town club after a spell in 2017-18 with Hartlepool United to which he moved as ‘a free agent’ from Scottish Premiership outfit Hamilton Academicals in 2017.

A product of the Academy at Sunderland from 2010, Blair never made the Black Cats’ first team in the league but built up experience on loan at Brentford, Northampton Town and then at the Ricoh in 2012-13. At Sunderland he also won a couple of England U20 caps in 2011. Exchanging the loan deal for a full contract with Sky Blues, the left orientated defender eventually clocked up a total of 49 first team apperances (41 in the league) for CCFC.

Blair signed up to the Association in October 2014 on leaving CCFC.

Following his release from the Sky Blues at the end of the 2013-14 season Blair spent the next two seasons at Notts. County were made just short of a half century of first team league outings for a solitary goal (and a further 13 appearances on loan at Mansfield Town) before following gaffer Shaun Derry to Cambridge United. Blair made a dozen appearances for the U’s before moving north of the border and only seven for the Accies in total.

Blair spent the 2017-18 season with Hartlepool United and clocked up 34 appearances with them (one goal) in all competitions before signing for his home town club, South Shields FC, on 27 July 2018 where, on his 27th birthday, apparently he scored a hat-trick in a FA Cup qualifying match against Garforth Town that ended 5–1!

In January 2021, Blair joined National League North outfit Gateshead on an initial 28-day loan deal from South Shields. Up until the end of the 2023-24 season had notched fifteen goals in 170 appearances for his home town club.

Have a great day today Blair and we would love to have you back to see us in Coventry whenever your playing or other commitments allow!
