What a night last Tuesday at the Ricoh….. and our special guest David Busst was first amongst a number of our former player members present in enjoying what he saw! The City’s third League One win on the trot from the beginning of the season gave us the best start since 1991-92. We firmly grabbed unbeaten top spot with two points in hand already. And this after the worst pre-season performance for many years.

Mogga’s men found it harder to finish off lowly Crewe Alexandra than when they took on highly fancied Wigan Athletic and muscular Millwall at their normally fearsome New Den. Nevertheless, Dave saw classic strikes from John Fleck, Jim O’Brien and a fifth in three games from new boy Adam Armstrong as the Sky Blues ran out winners in an exciting, pulsating contest.

Dave toured the lounges at the Ricoh before the game in the company of fellow Sky Blue defender (of an earlier era) Brian ‘Harry’ Roberts (pictured right), he voiced words of experience and wisdom in matchday analysis for the BBC CWR commentary team throughout the game reminding us, as if that were necessary, that Bussty is Sky Blue through and through. He was also full value down on the stage in Lady Gs where he and CCFPA’s Billy Bell enjoyed many a memorable quip in front of an appreciative audience of Sky Blue fans after the thrilling victory.

Look out on this site for news of our special guest at the Sky Blues next home game on Bank holiday Monday evening (31st August) against Southend United.
