Welcome To Our Newest Committee Member: Richard Morris

Richard

Only a few weeks after we lost one CCFPA member with the departure of Sandra Garlick we are very pleased to announce the recruitment of a new CCFPA committee member. Richard Morris steps up to join the Association’s hard working group of volunteers after some time helping us as a supporter at our events and on matchdays. Welcome Richard!

Richard’s arrival on the committee creates a family link since his wife Sarah has been our Membership Secretary for a while now and Richard has already been helping her on matchdays with shepherding our ‘special guests’ around their various duties. Both partners (with daughter Gracie) are Ricoh regulars and at CCFPA events elsewhere. Richard and Sarah also do a lot together to support CCFPA’s presence in the club’s Family Zone (organised on match-day Saturdays by our Associate member Pat Raybould) providing entertainment for the Sky Blues youngest supporters.

Regular readers will have noted his name frequently mentioned in relation to many of the Association events as he has become something of CCFPA’s official photographer at, for example, the Sky Blues Legends XI charity games and on match days ‘shooting’ our specials as they tour around the Ricoh Arena from the FZ, through supporters lounges, in the press box and down to the G-Casino after the game!

Richard will make a fitting addition to the skill set of the committee. He has worked in his family firm Telnet* since 1997 and is now a director there.  He has also been known to don the disguise of ‘Santa’ for charitable purposes at the Ricoh and elsewhere at Christmas time! He is in his 40s, born and bred in Cov. and schooled at Ernesford Grange (infants/juniors) and Binley Park Seniors.  Clearly Rich has made sacrifices to support the boys in Sky Blue as he tells us (perhaps surprisingly) that,

‘Everyone at school supported either Liverpool or ‘Spurs. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t follow their own city team and  I am Sky blue through and through”………. “My dad is a Leeds fan having been born and bred up there. Every time Leeds played City as a youngster I was always dragged along to watch and had Leeds kits forced upon me from the northern part of the family, but I was having none of it”.

Richard’s favourite Sky Blue players (both true professionals) are Roland Neilson and CCFPA member Cyrille Regis

Work commitments and supporting both CCFC and CCFPA doesn’t leave much time for hobbies apart from, Richard tells us enjoying ‘tinkling the ivories’ since learning to play as a young boy. Given the amount of input Richard has already made to CCFPA activities, committee membership is a natural progression and we are sure he will fit seamlessly into his new roles. Again, welcome Richard!
