We know that Southampton is a bit of a long haul for home based Coventry fans but feel the following event is worth calling to the notice of readers as there are Sky Blue fans all over the UK including on the south coast. We have been informed that former England captain and Sky Blues player and gaffer from 1990-92 Terry Butcher has agreed to engage in “an evening with” on Thursday 27th of September 2018 at Revolution, 28a Bedford Place, Southampton SO15 2DB. The event will take place from 7pm to 11pm.

The event is being put on to raise money for the Lee Bonsall Memorial Fund, a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) charity about which he knows a lot as his son Chris sadly committed suicide having suffered terribly following his exit from the armed forces. Terry has graciously agreed to do this charity event in Southampton to talk about his career and raise awareness of this affliction, He is donating all ticket proceeds to charity.

Terry, who gained 77 England caps between 1980-90 snf featured in three World Cups, will be talking all things Gazza, Italia ’90, Bobby, penalties and of course “that” injury. There will also be live music provided by Ferocious Dog. General Admission is £10 and there is also a VIP ‘meet & greet’ option at £18 with Terry which will be held in Revolution’s Sky Bar with drinks reception and canapes. Ticket prices are subject to add ons from the ticket vendor Eventbrite. Tickets can be bought by clicking here.

Sky Blues fans will remember that Terry came to Highfield Road as player-manager from Rangers for £400k in November 1990, though he made his name first at Ipswich Town. He succeeded another Sky Blues player and manager  CCFPA member John Sillett (though obviously Schnozz performed the roles at different times). Terry was coming up 32 when he got the job and became the youngest manager in the Football League on his appointment. However, he only actually played six games for the Sky Blues before concentrating on management. The Sky Blues reached the safety of 16th under his stewardship that first year but yielded the hot seat to his assistant Don Howe the following season when sacked in January 1992.   Terry played a season with Sunderland and had a few games with Clydebank before hanging up his boots in 1993. Since then he went on to manage a number of clubs apart from CCFC both in the UK and abroad.
