Sky Blue Reice in 2016-17

A fairly recent CCFPA signature, young former Sky Blue ‘keeper, Reice Charles-Cook has been released by his current club, Macclesfield Town, currently struggling next to bottom in the prematurely finished 2019-20 League Two season. In fact the Silkmen have let four former CCFC players go at the same time. As well as CCFPA member Reice Town have also bid farewell to defender Nathan Cameron (2010-13), forward Peter Vincenti (2017-18) and Jamie Pearson (non contract August 2017) who made one appearance for City.

Born in Lewisham, Reice came up through Arsenal’s Academy, had a couple of outings on loan at Chelmsford City and was then snapped up by Bury debuting in March 2014 (one of two appearances for the Shakers). The 6’1″ goalie signed for the Sky Blues initially on a one year deal on 18 July 2014, was loaned to local neighbours Nuneaton Town until January 2015 to gain experience, eventually making his Sky Blue first team debut on 11 August 2015 in a League Cup tie at Rochdale. In a rivalry with now fellow CCFPA member and ‘keeper Lee Burge,  Reice made Club history as the first CCFC shotstopper to keep clean sheets in his first four league games and then extended his performance to a club post-war record for the most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal.

Gracie with CCFPA’s Sarah Morris sign Reice up for the Assn.

Reice started 2016-17 season as the Sky Blues first choice goalkeeper until an error in a game v. AFC Wimbledon gave Lee a chance to regain his first choice position.  After 62 League and Cup games Reice moved onto Swindon Town. By the time he was released at the end of 2018 he had clocked up 25 appearances for the Robins, going on in October to join top Danish outfit Sønderjysk Elitesport A/S in Denmark’s Superliga.

However, on 15 January 2019 he signed for City’s former League One rivals Shrewsbury Town. This August Reice signed with the Silkmen for the current campaign but made only a handful of appearances this season for the League Two strugglers.

Reice has two brothers also in the game, Regan (most recently at Gillingham) and Anthony (at Dulwich Hamlet).

The Association wishes Reice all the best in his search for a new club and hopes to see him back watching a Sky Blues game in the Championship next season!
