Thanks to CCFPA Associate Member Kev Monks in alerting us (on his CovSupport News service Facebook page) that former young Sky Blue striker Shaun Jeffers has just signed for National League South side St Albans City.

The Bedford born striker came up through the well oiled Sky Blues Academy conveyer belt to do well for CCFC’s U18s and went on to make eight appearances in all competitions for City before being released in May 2013. He made his professional debut with the Sky Blues in August 2009 in their 1-0 defeat to Hartlepool United in the FL Cup before coming off the bench three days later to debut in the Championship for City in a 2-0 win over Barnsley.Whilst with City he got further experience out on loan with Cheltenham Town, Cambridge United and Tamworth.

Now aged 28, after the Sky Blues, Shaun developed his Football league career through spells with Peterborough United, Newport County and Yeovil Town prior to joining Chelmsford City in the summer of 2016. At the Essex outfit Shaun assisted the Clarets to the play-offs with 21 goals in 39 games and attracted the attention of Herts neighbours Boreham Wood. As well as making more than twenty-appearances in the National League during the 2017-18 campaign, the proven striker went on to enjoy spells at Hampton & Richmond Borough on loan (6 goals in 13 appearances), and Brackley Town.

Shaun re-joined Chelmsford City last summer and once more soon made his mark, becoming their top scorer with fourteen goals in thirty-two games  (including a goal against St Albans at their Clarence Park home)! Shaun told his brand new club’s website,

“I’m looking forward to getting started and getting back into pre-season as and when that’s possible. I’ve got a lot of experience at this level and I just want to build on that and get more goals and help the team progress. I’ve always got targets for myself and for the team. I’ve played against [Saint’s ‘Gaffer’] Ian Allinson a number of times and I’m excited to work with him. We want to build on last season and help the club challenge for promotion”.
