Peakey for Crawley

The Association’s ‘special guest’ for the Sky Blues’ League One home game next Tuesday night (6th November 2012) against Crawley Town will be one of the stars of the Club’s F.A.Cup victory a quarter of a century ago, Trevor Peake

‘Peakey’ played for King Edward VI School Nuneaton graduating to his local team Nuneaton Borough in 1978, before joining professional club Lincoln City the following year. The Sky Blues signed him in 1983 and he became an indispensible and cultured part of the defence in well over 300 appearances before moving to Luton Town from 1991-98. Trevor is rated by many as one of the best half backs of his era not to have been capped for his country and was a crucial part of the 1986-87 F.A.Cup run that culminated in that pulsating 3-2 extra time victory over Spurs in the Wembley Final in May 1987.

Latest NewsTrevor frequently turns out for the former players in Charity games and played his full part in the 25th Anniversary celebrations of that wonderful year for the Club and City which took place earlier this year and is pictured right in the famous 1986-87 strip which he wore again for one of a series of interview profiles of the victorious squad undertaken by Coventry Observer reporter Steve Carpenter which can still be found on www.coventryobserver.co.uk.

Trevor has coaching experience with both Luton and the Sky Blues (and was even briefly our caretaker Manager with Oggie in 2002) but his current coaching duties with Leicester City’s Academy – his team won their championship last season – mean he cannot visit the Ricoh as much as he might like. Therefore we are especially pleased to welcome Trevor to the Ricoh tonight.
