Gibbo here for Scunny

We are pleased to announce that nineteen sixties hero Ian Gibson will be the Association’s special guest at Saturday’s home game against Scunthorpe United at the Ricoh (10th November 2012).

Ian in 1966

Signed from Middlesbrough for a then club record fee of £57500 in 1966 this mercurial inside forward was a key member of the Jimmy Hill side who won promotion to the Division 1 and then the early Noel Cantwell sides that consolidated our place in the top Division.  From 1966-70 Ian scored 15 times (often crucial goals) in 104 first team appearances before moving on to Cardiff City.

Ian was last here (pictured above left) for the Ernie Machin tribute game in September.  Still lively and dapper with a wicked Scottish sense of humour and a sharp appreciation of the current game you can bank on Ian keeping the the corporate lounges in stitches with his anecdotes about his time with the club and no doubt will be given another rousing reception by the half-time crowd  and by Sky Blue fans on stage of Lady Gs in the G-Casino after the game when he will give as good as he gets with CCFPA’s Billy Bell .
